Three Free Ways to Promote Your Business

As a marketer, we need to always be smart when it comes to our budget and time. That is especially true in our advertising efforts. We need to have a razor sharp focus and a specific demographic that we need to target if we are going to be successful as marketers. If we want to get the most 'bang for our buck' out of our advertising budget, we need to be creative, innovative, and sometimes to think outside the box. Here are three ways to effectively advertise for little or nothing spent.

The first way is using post it notes. Buy some post it notes which are usually a few dollars and a pen, or if you want it to look a little more professional, get a stamp. With that stamp or pen, create a short advertisement for your business with your phone number or website and put that message on the post it notes. Every time you go to an ATM, gas station, or the restroom of stores or restaurants you can leave a post it. With this you absolutely do not want to over do it, but when used tastefully can bring you interested prospects. They will be calling you instead of you chasing them down. You are only limited by your imagination.

The second way is to simply target other marketers. Go to Craigslist or Backpage and look in the business opportunity sections and you will see numerous ads placed by others. Reply to some of those ads and strike up a conversation. Tell them you are a fellow marketer and was just curious how his or her ads were doing. A good rule of thumb is if they have some big claim such as 'make $ 10,000 in 10 days' you can assume that he is a struggling marketer and may benefit from your help and expertise. You will also get more of a response then if you just post an ad. The same works on Twitter posts as well.

The third way is attending networking events. There are chambers of commerce meetings and meet-up groups and many more to choose from. Go to the meeting with the intention of collecting as many business cards as you can. Do not hand out your own. Meet with everyone there and ask questions. What do you do? What made them get into that field? How is business? The next day follow up with them on the phone. Reintroduce yourself, remind them where you met, and ask if they would be open to a side project that wouldn't get in the way of what they are currently doing. If they are interested, great. If they are not, no big deal and move on.

With these three easy and low cost methods you should be able to easily generate a good amount of interested prospects to you. This business should be fun and chasing after family and friends is not. Having your phone ring with people who are interested in what you have to say is the best feeling in the world and really helps your efforts in your business. So start applying these methods where applicable and stop wasting time staring at the computer.
